| Attorney General Ken Salazar has
issued an alert to consumers to protect against being a victim of
identity theft during the holiday season.
He urged consumers to shred credit card and ATM receipts, along
with credit card offers they do not accept. Additionally, Salazar
suggested that residents not place outgoing mail in an unsecure
residential mailbox, not give out credit card numbers to businesses
they do not know and trust, and review credit card invoices and bank
statements carefully each month to ensure there are no unauthorized
charges.
Residents who want to reduce the number of unsolicited credit
offers they receive can "opt out" of offers by calling
888-567-8688.
